About 240,000 children are born with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) every year in India. 20% need intervention to survive the 1st year. Rest 80% need consistent healthcare to live a normal life. Out of which, over 93% children, 225,000  either die or suffer a morbid condition. In comparison, in the US, 40,000 children are born with CHD and 97% live a fulfilling life. 

SHF is building a Center of Excellence in comprehensive pediatric cardiac healthcare, i.e., a 200 bed Hospital & Medicine school, through collaboration between the top US Pediatric Heart Center, and the Government of India, that will treat 5,000 children surgically & manage 10,000 children medically every year. It will also develop the skill set required for complex pediatric cardiothoracic surgeries by cross-pollination between the world’s best doctors in the USA & India.
