To be determined
In lieu of flowers, Dolly asked that donations be made to the Imagination Library instead. Being called the Book Lady by children meant more to her than any award, and she used to joke that a hundred years from now, she'd rather be remembered for her books than her looks.
What can the songs of legendary singer-songwriter Dolly Parton teach us about writing, craft, and perspective in poetry? To find out — and to honor her — I'm facilitating a new virtual generative workshop, with 100% of proceeds going to the Imagination Library. We'll explore Dolly's discography and cultural impact, then use her music as inspiration for writing new poems.
The first thirty minutes will be spent sharing favorite Dolly memories, followed by two hours of generative writing.
If you've joined one of these Dolly-inspired workshops with me over the last three years, please know the bulk of the prompts will be new.
