RIVET is offering a one-day conference to consider the role of trees as protagonists not only in children’s lives, but also in our own. Our keynote speaker is Alison James, author of the children’s book, Maple and Rosemary.
During the morning, we’ll spend time in a studio setting to learn the story and “vocabulary” of a particular material/media, such as drawing, papermaking, jelly printing, circle singing, etc. We’ll dedicate afternoon time to being in the company of trees with our newfound “languages” to give voice to our encounters. And to those of the trees.
Early Birds can join us at 8AM for “Yoga on the Grove” led by Jen Degen (optional). Registration at 8:45AM for everyone. We end at 3:15PM, with the invitation to stay for Italian traditional dances led by Marie DiCocco and Celest DiPietropaolo. Check out the conference program for all that will take place in between!
Bring bag lunches. We’ll provide treats to start the day (but bring your own coffee and tea please).
Professional Development credit hours will be available through Northern Lights.
This workshop is made possible by the generosity of our talented and caring community!
Many thanks to Planetary Arts Institute at Camp Meade for hosting us in this special, beautiful location, to folks at Spring Hill School supporting us with logistics, and to the Vermont artists donating their time and skills to lead studio sessions – all to help raise funds to bring the Mosaics Exhibit to Educators, Families, and Young Children in Vermont!
