Embark on an exploration of stained glass creation at Facet & Forge 2024. This event is the perfect way to spend an evening immersed in the artistry and craftsmanship inherent in architectural glass art, mosaics, and other heritage building trades. Explore the Trinity Buffalo campus as it can rarely be seen: from the perspective of the skilled artisans and tradespeople that built and continue to maintain our city’s fantastic buildings, in live demonstrations.

Engage with artisans in live demonstrations of stained glass and mosaic art, metalworking, and sculpture. Gain insights into the meticulous craftwork involved in creating and preserving the cultural and artistic significance of architectural stained glass. The event is a commitment to the enduring nature of this timeless art form, highlighting the delicate interplay between tradition and contemporary methods.

Fusing Fun: Create your own miniature stained glass window, fired and fused in the SGAAF’s very own stained glass studio in Trinity. Limited space is available for each time slot. A registration ticket is required for each Fusing Fun ticket. Finished windows will be available for pick up 2-4 weeks after Facet & Forge.

Vitrigraph glass melting & community project, where attendees can design a collaborative glass panel to be donated to a local community center using the solidified glass pieces

Glass mosaics with the Society of American Mosaic Artists

Architectural casting & plastering with Buffalo Architectural Casting, where each attendee will be able to sculpt a piece of clay and take it home.

Featured exhibition: The One Hundred Moments Project
This traveling exhibition from the Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA) represents the full spectrum of SAMA’s diverse membership, featuring the work of seasoned professionals displayed alongside enthusiastic newcomers to the mosaic making process. Over one hundred mosaic panels, and for the first time, stained glass from selected SGAA members, are coming to Facet & Forge!

The Stained Glass Association of America Foundation's (SGAAF) mission is to inspire a new generation of artisans and stewards in all that stained glass can be. Our work focuses on supporting emerging artists and fostering new, diverse voices for the industry. Our work with the 120-year-old Stained Glass Association of America supports the education of stewards and caretakers who are tasked with maintaining and restoring our nation’s living museum of architectural art glass treasures.

Through curated lectures from designers, in our stained glass-making workshops, and with the help of our scholarships, the Stained Glass Foundation works to empower the mentors and artisans of today, lighting the way for a new generation of tradespeople and makers in our craft!

Trinity is the home to the Trinity Episcopal congregation, as well as headquarters for several nonprofits and community advocates, including the SGAA and SGAA Foundation, and The Center of Glass and Light, whose mission is to preserve, educate, and advocate for Trinity's windows.
