Sister Corita Kent was a dynamic artist of the 60s, 70s, and 80s who worked in screen printing for its vibrant color and powerful graphic style. Her artwork is a part of the Pop Art Movement, known for artists like Andy Warhol, with a social focus. Taking inspiration from street signs and advertisements and then subverting the original meanings Corita could communicate her own messages of peace and love and draw attention to contemporary issues of war, racism, and poverty. Spend an afternoon learning about this magnetic woman and make your own screen prints inspired by street signs, ads, and products found in our homes.
