For the past seventy-two years, the Review—an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit since 2000—has been devoted to publishing the most ambitious, adventurous work by new voices, as well as by those who may be advanced in their careers but who we feel deserve a brighter spotlight. The Review’s Writers at Work series offers definitive interviews with the greatest writers of our time, giving a window into the creative processes and experiences that alchemize into literature. At the Review, editorial decisions are driven not by what will sell but by our dual mission: to support writers and artists and to promote public appreciation of excellence. We rely on community support to do what we do—and Revel proceeds are the primary source of that support.

Generations of writers, artists, and readers will come together at the Revel to celebrate what the Review has meant to them, and to raise crucial funds for its continuation. We will present the Hadada, the magazine’s award for lifetime achievement, to Edward P. Jones—winner of the Pulitzer Prize for The Known World—whose fiction illuminates our capacity for contradiction with both clarity and empathy. Jones’s early short story “Marie” appeared in issue no. 122 (Spring 1992), and his Art of Fiction interview was published in issue no. 207 (Winter 2013). We’ll also present two prizes for work published in the magazine in 2025: the George Plimpton Prize honors an emerging writer of exceptional promise, and the Susannah Hunnewell Prize is awarded for an outstanding piece of prose or poetry.
