The TEAM is a Brooklyn-based theatre collective dedicated to collaboratively creating new works about the experience of living in the United States today to generate dialogue about our nation’s past, present, and future. Since 2017, Petri Projects, our new works lab, has funded 40+ projects, with 68% led by BIPOC artists and 20% going on to premiere Off-Broadway, including Modesto Flako Jimenez’s MERCEDES, which later premiered at BAM’s Next Wave Festival and won a Guggenheim award, and Camilo Quiroz-Vazquez + Ellpetha Tsivicos’s QUINCE, which premiered at the Bushwick Starr.
This year's Petri Potluck is supported by The Coffey Street Studio Artist Initiative (CSSAI), a new force in New York City's performing arts landscape, dedicated to the development of new work. Housed in a historic 19th-century warehouse in Red Hook, Brooklyn — 6,000 square feet of soaring space one block from the waterfront — CSSAI offers artists residencies of up to two weeks, with full use of the studio and support from a dedicated team with expertise in dramaturgy, design, sound, and media production. Founded by Andromache Chalfant, Michael Sharkey, Michael Sexton, and Olivia Mermagen, and fiscally sponsored by Producer Hub, CSSAI champions risk-taking experimentation and meaningful connection between artists and audiences.
