Ukrainian American Community Center is offering a class in the Ukrainian folk art of Pysanky (Easter eggs). Pysanky will be made by traditional methodology using beeswax and dyes. This class is a great experience for a group of friends or family members.

You can decorate your pysanka with traditional Ukrainian symbols or create your own designs. The craft of pysanky can be a very calming and therapeutic experience whether you work alone or in a small group.

Instructor: Olga, a Ukrainian master with over 15 years of experience, will guide you through the beautiful and meditative process of making Pysanky using traditional methods like beeswax, candle fire, and dyes. All Q&As: https://www.facebook.com/olga.dovgopola

Price per class: $50

Duration: 3 hrs class. Up to 12 people per class to allow instructor adequate time for assisting each student.

Materials:
- We will provide main materials and tools (candles, paper towers, dyes, kistka-tool, etc).
- However, please bring 3-6 of the jumbo raw white large eggs with you to the class (in a half carton).
- Optional: bring for yourself cleaning hand wipes.
- Please wear comfortable  clothing that would be ok to get dirty with wax or dyes in case that happens.
- Please keep long hair away from your face since we will be working with open fire from candles.
-optional: a snack for a short break. (the break time will be optional)

What to expect during the class:
- We will start by educating students on the tools they will be using for the process. Instructor will explain the brief history and the most common symbols that are used in traditional pysanka art. Instructor will demonstrate a couple of introductory techniques and let everyone start on their own egg. You will bring your Pysanka/egg(s)home with you after the class.

We recommend that children under the age of 14 request a separate class with us. Otherwise, the adults could learn the skill during our class first and then try it at home with children.

We will provide the resource for getting your own Pysanky tools & materials kit upon request.
