Create Justice Art with Sandra
Sandra Carmona, the talented artist who conceived and painted our event image, will guide you in creating a social justice painting.
Sandra is Chicana and Indigenous/Native American of Wixarika descent from La Sierra Madre mountain range in Jalisco, Mexico. The daughter of farmworkers, she was born and raised in San Diego County. Sandra is a woman who, although having grown up in poverty and around gangs, was also blessed to be part of a tightly knit, strong, and colorful barrio. Her art amplifies the voices of marginalized communities and showcases their culture, contributions, struggles, and vibrancy. Art is medicine. Sandra is a member of the women's border artist collective known as XoQUE. Find Sandra on IG: @sandracarmonaart / @xoque_artinmotion.
Socialize, paint, and have fun as you’re visually guided through each step of painting. However, you are welcome to switch up colors and get as creative as you like! All materials are provided in your SWAG box. PLEASE NOTE: Late registrants may not receive a SWAG box before the event.
