10 years ago, Voice of Witness began its journey as a nonprofit organization, with the vision to bring the crucial oral histories of marginalized communities to audiences nationwide. Since then, VOW has grown into an award-winning, multifaceted organization with a robust education program and an acclaimed book series.

Our "Brave Stories, Bold Movements" fundraising gathering is equal parts proud reflection of our first decade, and a clarion call to uplift the voices of people marginalized by our immigration and justice systems, who have been ignored for far too long.

6pm Welcome Reception
Join us for a cocktail hour reception to get to know VOW narrators, editors, and other community members who are harnessing oral history for social change.

7pm Dinner and Program
Join us for an incredible night of social justice storytelling, as we bring underrepresented stories center stage. Special guests include:

  • Isabel Allende: Chilean novelist, philanthropist, feminist, and one of the most widely-read authors in the world
  • Tommy Orange: Pulitzer Prize finalist and author of the stunning debut novel There, There
  • Voice of Witness narrators who are most closely impacted by our world's most pressing human rights issues related to criminal justice and migration and displacement

Co-hosted by
Dave Eggers, VOW co-founder and best-selling author, and Amy Rao, VOW supporter, philanthropist and CEO.

This is not a program of the JCCSF. The views expressed are those of Voice of Witness and/or its affiliates and guests.
