Instructors:

Ray Tschoepe

Ray earned his master’s in Historic Preservation at the University of Pennsylvania and has worked in the field for more than 30 years – first as an independent restoration contractor and then as Director of Conservation at the Fairmount Park Conservancy. There, Ray and his staff worked to conserve about 20 eighteenth and nineteenth-century buildings. Since 2000, Ray has also taught a core course in Building Conservation in the historic preservation program at Bucks County Community College. He is also a regular contributor to Old House Journal.

Andrew Staples

Andrew is the Conservation Supervisor at the Fairmount Park Conservancy. Prior to joining the Conservancy, he spent five years working as a contractor in his father's plumbing and heating business. Having been brought up around the trades, he developed an interest in the history and development of construction techniques and technologies.  Andrew holds an MA in Archaeology of Buildings from the University of York in the UK.

Steve Kurtz

Steve has over 50 years of experience in providing residential roofing services in Northwest Philadelphia and beyond.

John Siemiarowski

John has been in the electrical industry since 1964 first serving as an apprentice with his father. After obtaining an engineering degree he took over and operated the electrical contracting business at times with a partner. After a time working in the supply end of the electrical industry and helping other electrical contractors Electrical Wizardry, inc. was formed in 2004. Why the name Electrical Wizardry you might ask? Primarily because electricity is a lot like magic, and one needs a wizard to manage it safely. Most of his work has been in older homes, primarily in the northwest area of Philadelphia.
