Coming September 4, 2025 | Washington, DC
They hold the womb. We equip their hands.
This September, WANDA and Dreaming Out Loud proudly launch NOURISH — a first-of-its-kind maternal nutrition training program designed for and with Black birth workers in Washington, DC.
Rooted in ancestral wisdom and powered by modern nutrition science, NOURISH is a 3-week hybrid, in-person training series that equips doulas, midwives, lactation consultants, and birth workers with the skills, knowledge, and culturally-relevant tools to better support Black moms and babies through the healing power of food.
In DC, Black women are 3x more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women.
Yet most birth workers receive little to no nutrition education—and even less rooted in African diasporan foodways.
NOURISH changes that.
